How selection works
Both posts use the two-session Computer Based Examination. MTS merit is based solely on Session II, while Havaldar candidates must also qualify the Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test.
Stage-by-stage process
Computer Based Examination: Session I
Session I is evaluated first, and Session II is evaluated only for candidates who qualify Session I. The minimum qualifying marks in each session are 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS and 20% for all other categories.
Computer Based Examination: Session II
Session II is the merit-bearing part of the CBE. For MTS, the merit list is prepared solely from Session II performance. Havaldar shortlisting for PET/PST is also based on Session II performance.
PET / PST for Havaldar only
Havaldar candidates are shortlisted for the qualifying Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test, generally in a 1:7 vacancy-to-candidate ratio. A candidate who fails PET/PST is not considered for Havaldar but may remain in consideration for MTS according to CBE merit.
Final merit and post allocation
MTS final consideration uses Session II performance, submitted post-cum-State/UT/CCA preferences and the applicable age group. Havaldar final consideration uses Session II performance and submitted preferences and also requires PET/PST qualification.
Document Verification
After the final result, the allotted User Department or Organisation verifies original eligibility, category and educational documents before appointment.
