NIFT Syllabus: Sections and Topics Covered
National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination 2026
Section B is 70% of the merit and Section A is 30%, which is the first thing to know before reading a topic list that gives them similar space. The Case Study block under Section B has no equivalent anywhere else on this site: operations, inventory, sourcing, pricing, forecasting and supplier risk, asked as a business problem rather than as a question with a formula. One limit worth carrying in: the General Knowledge and Current Affairs coverage here is frozen to an 8 February 2026 cutoff, so read it for the recurring subject areas rather than for the news.

What sections does the NIFT syllabus cover?
There are 7 sections: Section A (Communication Ability & English Comprehension), Section A (Quantitative Ability), Section A (Analytical & Logical Ability), Section A (General Knowledge & Current Affairs), Section B (Quantitative Ability), Section B (Analytical & Logical Ability) and Section B (Case Study). Is this the official NIFT syllabus?
No, and the page says so rather than leaving you to work it out. The section pattern is official and linked to the notice it came from; the topics beneath it are the ones this site's own tests cover. They are useful for two things: seeing what you can practise here, and checking a syllabus you already have for gaps. For the syllabus itself, read the exam body's own document, because a topic list assembled from a question bank can be narrower than the syllabus and never wider in a way you should trust.
How many questions are there in the NIFT paper, and how long is it?
The paper is 150 questions for 150 marks in 180 minutes. Wrong answers are penalised 0.25 per question. Knowing that alongside the syllabus is what turns a topic list into a plan: it tells you how many marks each section is actually worth and how many minutes you can afford per question.
How do I practise the NIFT syllabus?
Sit a full mock before working down any topic list. A list tells you what can be asked; it does not tell you which parts are costing you marks, and that is rarely where a candidate expects.
