The score out of 150 is not the score that ranks you. NIFT weights Section A at 30% and Section B at 70% toward merit, so Section B's 60 minutes carry more than twice the weight of Section A's 120, while a raw practice total out of 150 treats every question as equal. Section A also auto-submits as a group when its 120 minutes end, with no way back into it. One further limit is worth knowing before you read a score: the General Knowledge and Current Affairs content built here is frozen to an 8 February 2026 cutoff and does not follow the news cycle.

The official 2026 B.FTech GAT weights Section A 30% and Section B 70% toward merit; this raw practice score out of 150 is not that weighted official score. Official GAT is CBT and bilingual English/Hindi; these approved practice banks are English text only, which is a platform limitation, not a claim that the real exam is English-only. GK/Current Affairs content is frozen to a 2026-02-08 cutoff. Regular B.FTech has no Stage 2 (no CAT/Situation Test/Interview).

That works out to about 72 seconds per question on average, before any time spent reading instructions or revisiting marked answers. The 7 sections are Section A (Communication Ability & English Comprehension), Section A (Quantitative Ability), Section A (Analytical & Logical Ability), Section A (General Knowledge & Current Affairs), Section B (Quantitative Ability), Section B (Analytical & Logical Ability) and Section B (Case Study). Section A (Communication Ability & English Comprehension) carries the most, 40 marks of the 150 or about 27%, against 15 marks for Section B (Analytical & Logical Ability). All sections share one composite timer, so you are free to move between them and spend your time where it earns most.
NIFT B.FTech GAT marking scheme
- Each correct answer is worth 1 mark.
- A wrong answer deducts 0.25 marks; an unattempted question scores zero.
- A guess therefore breaks even at 20% accuracy: above that it gains you marks on average, below it loses them. A blind guess between four options is right 25% of the time, which is already above that line, so an educated guess is worth making rather than leaving the question blank.
- Worked example: attempt 120 of the 150 questions and get 90 right and 30 wrong, and you score 82.5 out of 150.
