XAT Exam Pattern
Xavier Aptitude Test 2026: Part 1
The XAT exam pattern below is checked stage by stage, so one stage cannot inherit another stage's scoring rules.
XAT 2026 Part 1
Review pendingXAT is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur and runs for 180 minutes in two parts. Part 1 carries 75 questions across Verbal and Logical Ability (26), Decision Making (21) and Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (28) in 170 minutes, with 1 mark for a correct answer and 0.25 deducted for an incorrect one. Part 2 is 20 General Knowledge questions in 10 minutes. TakeMockTest covers Part 1 only. General Knowledge is excluded for two reasons: it is current-affairs content that cannot be responsibly self-authored, the same exclusion applied to the General Awareness sections of the banking and railway exams on this site, and XAT itself does not count the GK score towards the percentile used for shortlisting, so its omission does not distort the practice score. Two further features of the real paper are noted rather than reproduced. XAT applies an additional penalty of 0.10 marks for each unattempted question beyond eight, which rewards attempting breadth and which this platform does not model; candidates should not read an unpenalised blank here as costless in the real exam. Sectional time limits were removed from XAT 2026, so a single timer across Part 1 is correct rather than an approximation. Decision Making is the section that distinguishes XAT from every other management entrance on this site, and it is built here as caselets with several questions each, testing stakeholder reasoning, proportionality and separating a records or process failure from the underlying need, rather than as isolated puzzles. The pattern is marked review-pending because xatonline.in cannot be reached from the environment that maintains this catalogue, so the counts and marking above rest on consistent secondary-source corroboration rather than a directly read bulletin.
