XAT Exam Pattern

XAT is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur and runs 180 minutes in two parts. Part 1 carries about 75 questions across Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation in 170 minutes; Part 2 is about 20 General Knowledge questions in 10 minutes. XAT does not fix its section sizes in advance, so the per-section counts above are approximate, taken from recent papers rather than a published table. Marking is 1 mark for a correct answer and 0.25 deducted for a wrong one, plus a further 0.10 for each unattempted question after the first eight, a penalty that rewards attempting breadth and that this platform does not model: a blank costs nothing here and something in the real paper. General Knowledge does not count towards the percentile used for shortlisting. TakeMockTest covers Part 1 only. General Knowledge is excluded because it is current-affairs content this site does not self-author, the same exclusion applied to the General Awareness sections of the banking and railway exams. Decision Making is what distinguishes XAT from every other management entrance here, and it is built as caselets with several questions each, testing stakeholder reasoning and proportionality rather than isolated puzzles. This site's XAT questions are written with five options; whether the 2027 paper is five-option single-correct is not confirmed from a 2027 instruction document, so it is not stated as official.
