Eligibility at a glance
Candidates must be 18 to 23 years old as on 1 January 2026, must be citizens of India, and must have passed Matriculation or Class 10 by 1 January 2026.
Age limit
For the unrelaxed age band, candidates must have been born from 2 January 2003 to 1 January 2008, inclusive.

- Children / dependents of victims killed in the 1984 riots, UR / EWS5 years

Educational qualification
Candidates must have passed the Matriculation or 10th Class Examination from a recognised Board or University on or before 1 January 2026.
Nationality and domicile
A candidate must be a citizen of India. Because most CAPF and Assam Rifles vacancies are filled State/UT/area-wise, candidates must submit the required domicile certificate or Permanent Resident Certificate for the State or UT claimed in the application.

Frequently asked questions
Does meeting the SSC GD Constable eligibility mean my application is confirmed?
No. Eligibility is self-declared when you apply, and the conducting body accepts the application provisionally on the strength of that declaration. It is verified later, at document verification, against original certificates. A candidate who clears every stage and cannot produce proof of age, category or qualification at that point is rejected then, with the whole cycle spent. Check each condition against your own documents before you apply rather than after.
What is the SSC GD Constable exam pattern?
The paper is 80 questions for 160 marks in 60 minutes. Wrong answers are penalised 0.25 per question. Eligibility decides whether you can sit it; the pattern decides what sitting it involves, and the two are worth reading together before you commit to a cycle.
