NEET UG Syllabus: Sections and Topics Covered
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2026
Biology is half the paper and roughly half the topic labels in the bank, which for once means the coverage and the weighting agree. The Botany and Zoology content runs wide rather than deep: cell structure, plant hormones, DNA replication, evolution, ecology and human physiology all appear, because the paper samples the whole NCERT syllabus rather than concentrating on favourite chapters. Physics and Chemistry each take 45 questions and are covered to a comparable spread on a quarter of the marks apiece.

Is this the official NEET UG syllabus?
No, and the page says so rather than leaving you to work it out. The section pattern is official and linked to the notice it came from; the topics beneath it are the ones this site's own tests cover. They are useful for two things: seeing what you can practise here, and checking a syllabus you already have for gaps. For the syllabus itself, read the exam body's own document, because a topic list assembled from a question bank can be narrower than the syllabus and never wider in a way you should trust.
How many questions are there in the NEET UG paper, and how long is it?
The paper is 180 questions for 720 marks in 180 minutes. Wrong answers are penalised 1 per question. Knowing that alongside the syllabus is what turns a topic list into a plan: it tells you how many marks each section is actually worth and how many minutes you can afford per question.
How do I practise the NEET UG syllabus?
Sit a full mock before working down any topic list. A list tells you what can be asked; it does not tell you which parts are costing you marks, and that is rarely where a candidate expects.
