Timing: Single composite 150-minute timer for all three sections combined: no sectional lock, matching the official test's own no-sectional-time-limit rule.
The official JIPMAT (conducted by the National Testing Agency for IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu) has 100 questions for 400 marks in 150 minutes, 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark negative for each wrong answer, with no sectional time limit, across three sections: Quantitative Aptitude (33Q), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (33Q), and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (34Q). This mock now covers all three sections at full official scale, replacing an earlier proportionally-scaled 45-question shell. All three sections are skill-based (quantitative calculation, data interpretation and logical puzzles, vocabulary and reading comprehension), not fact-recall, so no section needed excluding for content-risk reasons.

That works out to about 90 seconds per question on average, before any time spent reading instructions or revisiting marked answers. The 3 sections are Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. All 3 sections are separately timed, so time saved in one cannot be carried into another — you cannot bank minutes by rushing an easy section.

- Each correct answer is worth 4 marks.
- A wrong answer deducts 1 mark; an unattempted question scores zero.
- A guess therefore breaks even at 20% accuracy: above that it gains you marks on average, below it loses them. A blind guess between four options is right 25% of the time, which is already above that line, so an educated guess is clearly worth making rather than leaving the question blank.
- Worked example: attempt 80 of the 100 questions and get 60 right and 20 wrong, and you score 220 out of 400.
