Timing: Two separately timed official papers, not one free 240-minute clock: Paper I (Mathematics) gets 120 minutes and auto-submits as a group, then Paper II (Physics and Chemistry, free navigation between the two) gets a separate 120 minutes with no return to Paper I. The official exam schedule includes a 1-hour gap between papers on exam day; this mock does not add that idle gap as working time..

TakeMockTest online practice adaptation of the official WBJEE 2026 OMR question and scoring pattern. WBJEE uses three scoring categories across all three subjects: Category 1 (single correct option, +1 correct, -0.25 wrong), Category 2 (single correct option, +2 correct, -0.5 wrong), and Category 3 (multi-select, one or more correct options, maximum +2 with no negative marking; selecting a non-empty subset of only correct options, without the full set, earns proportional partial credit of 2 times selected-correct divided by total-correct; selecting any incorrect option scores 0). On exam day this is delivered as two OMR papers: Paper I Mathematics (75 questions, 100 marks, 120 minutes) and Paper II Physics and Chemistry (80 questions, 100 marks, 120 minutes), with a 1-hour gap between them.

The WBJEE Engineering exam pattern is 155 questions carrying 200 marks, to be answered in 240 minutes. That works out to about 93 seconds per question on average, before any time spent reading instructions or revisiting marked answers. The 3 sections are Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. All sections share one composite timer, so you are free to move between them and spend your time where it earns most.

WBJEE Engineering marking scheme

  • Each correct answer is worth 1.29 marks.
  • Worked example: attempt 124 of the 155 questions and get 93 right and 31 wrong, and you score 119.97 out of 200.

Practising against the same clock is the point of a mock test: at 93 seconds a question, the difference between a good score and an average one is usually pacing rather than knowledge. Attempt a free WBJEE mock test to see where your time actually goes.

WBJEE exam pattern: frequently asked questions

Is there negative marking in WBJEE?

WBJEE deducts Category-dependent: -0.25 in Category 1, -0.5 in Category 2, none in Category 3 for a wrong answer. An unattempted question always scores zero, so the choice is only ever between guessing and leaving it blank.

How many questions are there in WBJEE?

WBJEE has 155 questions. That leaves about 93 seconds per question in WBJEE.

What are the total marks in WBJEE?

WBJEE is out of 200 marks.

How long is the WBJEE exam?

WBJEE runs for 240 minutes.

Does WBJEE have a sectional time limit?

No. Every section shares one composite timer, so you can move between sections freely and give the slower ones more of your time.
