SAEEE asks you to choose before you start. The official pattern sets Mathematics or Biology as the first subject, and this stage is the PCM route; a candidate on the Biology route sits a different first section and will not find it here. Past that the paper is unusually plain: 60 questions in 60 minutes, 20 each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, one mark apiece, nothing deducted and nothing locked. A minute a question with no penalty leaves almost no strategy to get wrong, which makes this a test of coverage rather than of nerve.

The official SAEEE pattern lists Mathematics/Biology as the alternative first subject; this TakeMockTest stage is the PCM route (Mathematics, not Biology). Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology conducts SAEEE online, based on the Class 12 syllabus. Each correct answer earns 1 mark; there is no deduction for a wrong answer, and an unanswered question also scores zero.

That works out to about 60 seconds per question on average, before any time spent reading instructions or revisiting marked answers. The 3 sections are Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. All 3 sections carry 20 marks each, so none of them repays disproportionate preparation and a weakness anywhere costs the same. All sections share one composite timer, so you are free to move between them and spend your time where it earns most.
SAEEE B.E./B.Tech PCM marking scheme
- Each correct answer is worth 1 mark.
- There is no negative marking, so leaving a question blank can only cost you: an unattempted question and a wrong one score the same zero. Attempt everything.
- Worked example: attempt 48 of the 60 questions and get 36 right and 12 wrong, and you score 36 out of 60.
