Timing: Two-part official timer, not one free 180-minute clock: Physics and Chemistry share a single 90-minute window that auto-submits as a group, followed by a separate 90-minute Mathematics window with no return to Physics or Chemistry afterward..
CBT: 150 four-option single-correct MCQs across Physics (50), Chemistry (50), and Mathematics (50), 200 marks total, no negative marking. Physics and Chemistry each award 1 mark per correct answer; Mathematics awards 2. Class 11 makes up roughly 20% of each subject's syllabus weightage and Class 12 the remaining 80%, corroborated across current secondary sources (Careers360, Shiksha) rather than confirmed to an exact official per-shift quota.
Official source · checked 20 August 2026The MHT CET PCM exam pattern is 150 questions carrying 200 marks, to be answered in 180 minutes. That works out to about 72 seconds per question on average, before any time spent reading instructions or revisiting marked answers. The 3 sections are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. All sections share one composite timer, so you are free to move between them and spend your time where it earns most.
MHT CET PCM marking scheme
- Each correct answer is worth 1.33 marks.
- There is no negative marking, so leaving a question blank can only cost you: an unattempted question and a wrong one score the same zero. Attempt everything.
- Worked example: attempt 120 of the 150 questions and get 90 right and 30 wrong, and you score 119.7 out of 200.
Practising against the same clock is the point of a mock test: at 72 seconds a question, the difference between a good score and an average one is usually pacing rather than knowledge. Attempt a free MHT CET mock test to see where your time actually goes.
