KVS Primary Teacher (Recruitment 01/2025) Tier 1
Nothing on this paper tests teaching. The six sections are computer literacy, two language competency tests, general knowledge, general reasoning and numeric ability, so a candidate applying for a primary-teaching post answers no question about pedagogy or child development at Tier 1. The weighting repays a second look: Basic Computer Literacy carries 20 questions and 60 marks, the same as General Knowledge and the same as General Reasoning, and double what either language section gets. Preparation built for a teaching-eligibility test will miss most of what is actually asked here.

Timing: Single unrestricted 120-minute timer covering every section, matching Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan's own conduct of an OMR objective paper; there is no official sectional lock.
KVS PRT Tier 1 is 100 objective questions for 300 marks in 120 minutes: every question carries 3 marks and a wrong answer deducts 1 mark, with multiple responses treated as wrong. An unanswered question scores zero. KVS does not publish per-section time limits, so the sectional durations here are TakeMockTest practice allowances in proportion to each section’s question share, not official figures.

That works out to about 72 seconds per question on average, before any time spent reading instructions or revisiting marked answers. Basic Computer Literacy carries the most, 60 marks of the 300 or about 20%, against 30 marks for Language Competency Test (Hindi). All sections share one composite timer, so you are free to move between them and spend your time where it earns most.
KVS PRT Tier 1 marking scheme
- Each correct answer is worth 3 marks.
- A wrong answer deducts 1 mark; an unattempted question scores zero.
- A guess therefore breaks even at 25% accuracy: above that it gains you marks on average, below it loses them. That is exactly what a blind guess between four options returns, so guessing at random neither gains nor loses marks over a long paper. The moment you can rule out even one option, it starts paying.
- Worked example: attempt 80 of the 100 questions and get 60 right and 20 wrong, and you score 160 out of 300.
