Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination 2026 (PCM)
Half an hour separates this paper from the polytechnic one. JCECE and Jharkhand PECE both set 150 questions split evenly across Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for 150 marks, with the same quarter-mark deduction, but JCECE allows 180 minutes where PECE allows 150. That is 72 seconds a question here against 60 there, on papers pitched at different syllabi. The even three-way split leaves no section to build a plan around, which puts the whole plan on the clock and the deduction.

The JCECE 2026 PCM exam pattern is 150 questions carrying 150 marks, to be answered in 180 minutes. That works out to about 72 seconds per question on average, before any time spent reading instructions or revisiting marked answers. The 3 sections are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. All 3 sections carry 50 marks each, so none of them repays disproportionate preparation and a weakness anywhere costs the same. All sections share one composite timer, so you are free to move between them and spend your time where it earns most.
JCECE 2026 PCM marking scheme
- Each correct answer is worth 1 mark.
- A wrong answer deducts 0.25 marks; an unattempted question scores zero.
- A guess therefore breaks even at 20% accuracy: above that it gains you marks on average, below it loses them. A blind guess between four options is right 25% of the time, which is already above that line, so an educated guess is worth making rather than leaving the question blank.
- Worked example: attempt 120 of the 150 questions and get 90 right and 30 wrong, and you score 82.5 out of 150.
