IIT JAM Exam Pattern

TakeMockTest currently provides JAM 2026 practice for the Mathematics (MA) paper only, not the other JAM papers. Each mock follows the published three-section blueprint: Section A has 30 multiple-choice questions (10 for 1 mark and 20 for 2 marks, so 50 marks), Section B has 10 multiple-select questions of 2 marks each (20 marks), and Section C has 20 numerical-answer questions (10 for 1 mark and 10 for 2 marks, 30 marks), totalling 60 questions for 100 marks in 180 minutes. Negative marking applies only in Section A, at 1/3 mark for a wrong 1-mark MCQ and 2/3 mark for a wrong 2-mark MCQ; MSQ questions award full credit only for the exact correct set, with no partial credit and no penalty, and NAT questions award full credit for the exact typed value with no penalty. Content is written to the undergraduate JAM Mathematics syllabus areas (sequences and series of real numbers, functions of one real variable, functions of two or three real variables, integral calculus, differential equations, vector calculus, group theory and linear algebra), which is a different depth from the 10+2 mathematics used elsewhere on this site. The official JAM organising-institute site could not be reached from the environment that maintains this catalogue, so the three-section blueprint above rests on consistent secondary-source corroboration rather than a directly read information brochure, and the pattern is marked review-pending until it can be checked against the official document. The official JAM interface provides an on-screen virtual scientific calculator; this platform does not reproduce it, so questions are written to be solvable without one.
