Timing: Two officially confirmed section timers within a single 180-minute Full Mock: SUPR (Subject Proficiency Test) 60 minutes, then REAP (Research Aptitude Test) 120 minutes, each section locking when its timer ends. This locking sequence is TakeMockTest platform behavior; IIIT Hyderabad’s own computer-based-test navigation between sections was not independently verified during research. Sectional tests use the same official section timings on their own.

UGEE is computer-based with a total duration of 180 minutes, officially split into SUPR (60 minutes) and REAP (120 minutes), both with 25% negative marking. Candidates are first filtered on SUPR performance, then ranked on REAP score for interview shortlisting; the final admission offer is based solely on interview performance. The syllabus is Class 11/12 Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, and REAP specifically emphasizes critical and creative thinking beyond direct syllabus recall. The current public IIIT Hyderabad UGEE page does not publish an exact question count or marks-per-question scale for the current cycle: this mock’s SUPR (40 questions, +1/-0.25) and REAP (50 questions, +2/-0.5) counts and marking values are corroborated from consistent secondary sources, not an official IIITH publication. TakeMockTest format adaptation. Official UGEE sample materials include item formats not reproduced exactly by this mock interface.

The IIIT Hyderabad UGEE Undergraduate Entrance Examination exam pattern is 90 questions carrying 140 marks, to be answered in 180 minutes. That works out to about 120 seconds per question on average, before any time spent reading instructions or revisiting marked answers. The 2 sections are SUPR and REAP. All 2 sections are separately timed, so time saved in one cannot be carried into another. You cannot bank minutes by rushing an easy section.

IIIT Hyderabad UGEE Undergraduate Entrance Examination marking scheme

  • Each correct answer is worth 1.56 marks.
  • A wrong answer deducts 25% of each question’s own marks (SUPR -0.25, REAP -0.5); an unattempted question scores zero.
  • A guess therefore breaks even at 94.1% accuracy: above that it gains you marks on average, below it loses them. A blind guess between four options is right only 25% of the time, which is below that line, so guessing at random costs you marks: guess only when you can genuinely eliminate options.
  • Worked example: attempt 72 of the 90 questions and get 54 right and 18 wrong, and you score -365.76 out of 140.

Practising against the same clock is the point of a mock test: at 120 seconds a question, the difference between a good score and an average one is usually pacing rather than knowledge. Attempt a free IIIT Hyderabad UGEE mock test to see where your time actually goes.
