Frequently asked questions

Is this an official UPSC question paper?

No. It is an independent practice mock containing original questions mapped to the official UPSC CSAT (General Studies Paper II) syllabus.

Is CSAT divided into separately timed sections?

No. Like the real exam, CSAT uses a single 120-minute timer for the whole paper: there is no sectional lock between Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, Mental Ability, and Numeracy questions.

Does CSAT count towards the final Prelims merit?

No. CSAT (Paper II) is qualifying only: candidates must score at least 33% (66/200) to qualify for the Main Examination. It does not count towards the merit ranking; that is decided by GS Paper I.

Is there negative marking?

Yes. Each question carries 2.5 marks, and a wrong answer deducts one-third (0.833) of a mark. Unattempted questions score zero.

Drill Logical reasoning and analytical ability beyond UPSC CSE

22 of the 80 questions here are pure reasoning, and reasoning is the one part of a paper that is not exam-specific: a seating puzzle does not change because it appears in a bank paper rather than a railway one. Our Logical Reasoning section pools 750 such questions from across every exam on this site and sorts them two ways: by difficulty, so you can find your level, and by topic, so you can drill the family that costs you time.

It is practice, not simulation: there is no negative marking there, so a score in that section is not comparable with your score here. Use it to build the skill, and come back to this test to rehearse the exam.
