Frequently asked questions
Is this an official UPSC question paper?
No. It is an independent practice mock containing original questions mapped to the official CDS English syllabus.
Is CDS English the same for OTA and the other academies?
Yes. English and General Knowledge are common to all four academies (IMA, INA, AFA, and OTA). Only Elementary Mathematics differs, since OTA candidates don't take it at all.
What is the CDS English negative marking scheme?
Each wrong answer deducts one-third of that question's marks, about 0.33 marks per question here. There is no deduction for an unattempted question.
Why is this mock scored at 1 mark per question when the official paper isn't?
The official CDS English paper has 120 questions for 100 marks, roughly 0.83 marks per correct answer. This mock uses a clean 1 mark per question instead for simplicity, since the official fractional value doesn't change how you should approach the questions.
