Frequently asked questions
Do I need to take the ACT Science section?
For most colleges, no. Since the 2026 Enhanced ACT rollout, Science is optional and does not factor into your Composite score. Only a small number of schools, including Georgetown, Boston University, Marquette, Pomona, and East Carolina, along with the U.S. service academies, generally expect it, so check your target colleges' current testing policy directly.
Does the ACT Science score count toward my Composite score?
No. Composite is calculated only from English, Math, and Reading. Science is still scored on the same 1 to 36 scale and reported separately when taken.
What does the ACT Science section actually test?
Data interpretation and scientific reasoning from passages presenting data, experiments, or differing viewpoints, not memorized science facts.
Is this an official ACT question paper?
No. It is an independent practice mock containing original questions mapped to the official Enhanced ACT Science section format.
